Community Service Project
One in five low-income women report a lack of access to feminine hygiene supplies (an estimated 100,000+ women and girls in Northeast Florida) and report missing work, school or similar events due to a lack of access to feminine supplies. This health and safety issue is linked to using substitute products (toilet tissue, socks, rags, etc.), stretching product usage, and missing work, school, and similar events. Furthermore, menstrual products are not eligible for purchase in safety net programs such as SNAP (food stamps) and WIC.
We are asking Planet Philanthropy attendees to donate feminine hygiene supplies of all sizes and kinds to support Renewing Dignity. Items can be dropped off at the table at Planet Philanthropy marked AFP Gives Back. Thank you to our attendees for their thoughtfulness and generosity.
